WE'RE BACK! Goldenpicks took a brief break because I was out of the country with limited internet access. I apologize for the intermittent break, but we are back for the last week of the regular season and for the playoffs to come. Week 15 was our last counted week and we went a total of 12-4 straight up and 1-0 against the spread. Definitely one of our better weeks but I have a good feeling about week 18 as well. Without further ado here are my week 18 picks…
We start off the Saturday slate and week 18 with the Chiefs at the Broncos. The Chiefs are coming off a gut wrenching loss to the Bengals last week that made their chances at the number 1 seed in the AFC more difficult to achieve. While the Broncos have not been able to do anything well as of the past… well… year… The Broncos have been so terrible on offense it's hard to bet that they have any chance in this one. With the Chiefs playing for the number 1 seed still they will bring it against their weaker divisional opponent. Chiefs win it here and it shouldn't be close.
Both these teams come into week 18 with a guaranteed playoff spot. This makes things interesting when trying to pick this game. The Cowboys are going to want to bounce back from their loss to the Cardinals last week, and the Eagles simply don't have much to play for with their playoff seed already set in stone. Jerry Jones claims that the Cowboys will still “play to win” regardless. The Cowboys have seeding at stake and I think that makes it a much more important game to them compared to the Eagles. Give me the Cowboys to cover the spread and win this game outright.
Pick: Cowboys / Cowboys -4
How will this game pan out? This one is a weird one. The Packers already have the top seed in the NFC locked in and the Lions are arguably the worst team in the NFL. The Packers will feel obligated to sit some of their stars and why shouldn't they? There is simply nothing to play for in this game for the Packers, and the last thing you want is an injury to one of your stars. Jared Goff should be back for the Lions and that is a big upgrade over their back up QB Tim Boyle. I think if the Packers back up QB Jordan Love see’s significant time that this game could be close, and maybe even a Lions victory. Im taking my chances and betting on that to end up happening. Give me the Lions +3.
Pick: Lions +3
